MONASTERY IN MONTSERRAT

A surreal landscape of oddly-formed rocks greets the visitors at the top of the mountain where the Shrine of Our Lady of Montserrat stands. Since the 12th century, pilgrims have been drawn to this mountain in the town of Montserrat near Barcelona to venerate the miraculous statue of the Black Madonna (La Moreneta) which is located in the Basilica next to the monastery.
